Bob's Catholic Upbringing
Bob's upbringing in the Catholic Church has been an integral part of his life since birth.
His family is proud to have been among the founders of their local parish, commonly referred to as St. Joes, in Lino Lakes MN, and Bob himself served as an altar boy in the original church for many years.
Stories of horse-drawn rides to church, especially in the winter, provide some insight of the times. From his very young days of warming bricks on the stove, wrapping them in cloths, to have along to stay warm to memories of serving mass spoken in Latin. More stories about his time helping the parish to dig graves, as part of his stewardship to the church, led to a few interesting stories of winter-time digging and pulling a few pranks while digging in the dark.
A special highlight of his life was marrying the love of his life in the brand new expansion of their church. Bob and Betty were the first to be married in the "new" church, an expansion that the parish eventually outgrew and is now the gathering space for events, the Great Hall.
These events, and many family baptisms, weddings, funerals and celebrations at St. Joes have helped shape Bob into the man he is today, and he has always treasured these memories.
Helen Menne, was the ultimate nurturer. She had a passion for gardening, fishing, cooking and celebrating holidays with her 10 children. She was a master at creating memorable experiences and life lessons that will last a lifetime and be carried on for generations. Resourceful and creative, Helen's skills at sewing and croqueting created amazing family heirlooms.
Her strong love for her family, her church, and her genuine care for others created an inspiring legacy that will live on forever.
